Welcome new projects of Envision Financial and Douglas College Community Building Program

Updated: Jan 30, 2020

Continuing with the mission to support not-for-profits organizations with marketing expertise and support, the Community Building Program started 2019 with 4 non-profit projects: Canada SCORES Vancouver, UMOJA Operation Compassion Society, Coquitlam Firefighters Charity Society GALA, and Guardian Fire Shield. Students in this program form teams and offer marketing expertise and support to the organizations featured in the program.

The first project, Canada SCORES Vancouver is an after-school program provider for vulnerable students. Specifically, these kids will have more opportunities to develop both their physical and mental health by taking part in activities with their teammates. This includes outdoor activities such as sports, community-based projects, and academic engagement such as poetry. All these activities are provided to these children to help support their overall development. Besides these offerings, additional support is also provided for them to find their own passions and interests. Douglas College students will be working on projects to achieve two main objectives: to help build the brand identity among the community and to learn about how to best market to sponsors.

The second organization the Community Building Program is featuring this semester is an organization that helps new immigrants to Canada. UMOJA’s efforts are to provide services to immigrants who need help. There are a number of programs designed for these targets, and thus the program requires huge community and financial support. Douglas College students are working this semester to help market to potential sponsors and to create more awareness for the organization.

The third organization featured this semester is Coquitlam Firefighters Charity Society. Students working this client are focused on providing advice about marketing the society’s Snack Program, offered at local schools, and their annual Gala, which is a major fundraising endeavour for the society.

The final organization the program is featuring this semester is Guardian Fire Shield. , Guardian Fire Shield is a company that provides customers with an automatic fire safety device. Students assigned to this partner will help formulate promotional strategies to various consumer markets.

Students are currently working with one of these partners to help provide marketing expertise and support, and projects are currently in progress. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to track students, partners, and projects!
