The Community Wins, Despite COVID-19

Douglas College Marketing Students are doing their part by transitioning their Community Building Program meetings and presentations to an online environment.

The Lower Mainland has been observing special public health measures issued by the government of BC, and it seems to be flattening the COVID-19 curve. In an attempt to control the pandemic, the government has imposed a ban on gatherings of more than 50 people and has required people to keep a safe distance of 6 feet apart (Little, S. 2020). This has proven to be especially challenging for Douglas College marketing students during their Winter 2020 semester.

Every year students use their learned skills to help non-profit organizations thrive in their marketing endeavours. The program is sponsored by Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union. This semester's presentations will feature the following organizations: Abbotsford Community Foundation, Crossroads Hospice Society Thrift Store, Port Moody Arts Centre, and The Douglas College Foundation. Presentations will be premiered on YouTube at 4:30 pm PST on April 9th, 2020.
